The Course
The Calgary Ironman 70.3 course is one of the most scenic courses in the entire 70.3 series. With rolling hills and crystal clear waters set on the backdrop of the majestic Rock Mountains, the course is both challenging and breathtaking.
This was the race course and wave start times for the 2011 Ironman 70.3 Calgary. We are currently working on small changes to the course, including different wave start times, and age catagories for the 2012 race.
Wave Schedule:

Below is the specific information, course times and descriptions of the course.
Swim – 1.9 km (1.2 miles) – 1 loop
Cut off time: 1 hour and ten minutes after the start of your wave.
The swim starts at the boat ramp located at the Ghost Reservoir Provincial Park. The course is a loop and begins heading away from the boat ramp before turning north under the Highway 1A bridge and into a sheltered section of the reservoir. The swim will continue north for about 850 meters before turning right for 25 meters then right again now heading south. Just after passing under the bridge the course turns right again heading back towards the starting point (the boat ramp). The course exits the water on the left hand side of the boat ramp. Transition 1 is located in the parking lot adjacent to the boat ramp.
Bike – 94 km (58 miles) – point to point
Cut off time: 5 hours after the start of your wave.
The bike course is point to point with no out and back so it is impossible for us to have the course at exactly 90km. The course is slightly less than 94kms. While we’re sorry for the increased difference, the challenging nature and scenery alone more than makes up for it. If you’ve seen a more beautiful 70.3 course, we’d like to know!
